After a bunch of in-nature activities in Lappland, we aimed for some more kids-friendly activities on the road to Talberg. However none of them could be done because:
Because there is quite a distance between Langsele and Talberg, we planned to spend a night in Ostersund.
We thought about visting Jamtli (GMaps) in the afternoon but arrived too late or it was closed that day (I don't remember).
We also planned to visit the Moose Garden (GMaps) in the morning after but it closed for the season 2 days before (mid August).
We slept at the Clarion Grand Hotel in Ostersund (GMaps). The basic room was little but they managed to add a little double bed for small children. They have a really nice swimming pool. Water is warm and not deep.
We had dinner at Indisk Gard (GMaps-Tripadvisor). Even though the restaurant facade is not inspiring, chicken massala variations are a delight.
The highlight in this area should have been a stay in Leksand Sommarland (GMaps-Tripadvisor).
We chose to not sleep in the glamping resort because of its steep price and because we had no guarantee of good and warm weather. Instead we decided to use some cheap airbnb and visit leksand sommarland if weather conditions were good. They were not.
We stayed in this airbnb (GMaps). Our host Mia is a really charming person. The little house was nice and there was everything to entertain two young girls. There is a little cabin for children and a small horse toy in it. It drove them crazy! This place was one of the cheapest in the area and provided more than enough.
We did not take advantage of the garden and barbecue because of the rain. We would go there again.
The place is 10 minutes away from Leksand where you will be able to buy some groceries.
We recommend a visit to Naturum Dalarna (GMaps). It is a nice little museum and there are some walking trails nearby.
On your way around the lake, walk a bit in Rattvik and its shore. Drive thrgough Tällberg and shop Dalahorses at Nils Olsson's shop (GMaps) or in the shop 20 meters further.
